Girls from years 6-12 with an interest in STEM are invited to join our inspirational Girl Powered workshop for an evening immersion into the world of STEM.
Having role models and mentors is extremely important, especially for young women interested in STEM fields. Here are a few reasons why:
Role models inspire and motivate young women, showing them that success in STEM is achievable.
They help break stereotypes and challenge the notion that STEM is a male-dominated field.
Mentors provide guidance, support, and valuable advice to young women, helping them navigate challenges and make informed decisions.
Role models and mentors assist in building professional networks, connecting young women with opportunities and resources in the STEM community.
They boost confidence and empower young women, reinforcing the idea that they belong in STEM and their contributions are valuable.
These workshops contribute to redefining the face of STEM, encouraging more young women to pursue STEM fields and make a difference in the world.
Girl Powered is a global initiative created through a partnership between the Robotics Education & Competition (REC) Foundation and VEX Robotics with the aim to engage young women in STEM, provide mentors, showcase inspiring role models, and create an inclusive environment for their success. DTAC Wangaratta is passionate about empowering young women, the Girl Powered Initiative aligns with our values.
